Limited Access
A pickup or delivery site a carrier treats as harder to serve than a standard commercial dock.
Detailed Explanation
Limited access is a classification of the location, not a service performed on the freight, and it carries its own accessorial charge. Typical sites include self-storage facilities, schools, churches, construction sites, military bases, farms, fairgrounds, and mines. It is separate from residential and can apply instead of it or on top of it, depending on the carrier — at least one national carrier has no residential item at all and prices private residences as limited access. Because carriers add the charge after the fact when a site was not declared, and those charges are difficult to dispute, describe the location accurately at quote time.
