Roseville is a city located in Placer County, California, and is part of the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area. The city was originally a stagecoach station called Griders, named after the owner of a hotel in the area. In 1864, the Central Pacific Railroad reached the area and the town was renamed Roseville, after the town's first postmaster, Roseville Grant. The railroad played a significant role in the city's growth and development, as it became a major transportation hub for freight and passengers.
